Individual Counselling

Sometimes life feels heavier than it should.

There are times in life when we find ourselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or simply unsure about what comes next.

You might be navigating a relationship challenge, struggling with anxiety, carrying the weight of a difficult life transition, or finding yourself caught in the same patterns despite your best efforts to move forward.

Individual counselling offers a space to slow down, make sense of what's happening, and reconnect with what matters most to you.

My role isn't to tell you what to do or to offer quick fixes. Instead, I work alongside you to better understand your experiences, recognise patterns that may no longer be serving you, and help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and self-awareness.

Whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply know that something feels "off," therapy can provide a supportive space to explore what is going on beneath the surface.

You are not alone

Why People Come to See Me

Many people arrive at counselling believing they should have everything figured out already.

The truth is, life can become complicated.

You may recognise yourself in some of the following:

  • -You’re questioning whether to stay in a relationship or leave.
  • -You’re recovering from a breakup, separation, or betrayal.
  • -You’re constantly overthinking and can’t seem to switch your mind off.
  • -You’re carrying stress, responsibility, or burnout.
  • -You’re navigating a major life transition and feeling uncertain about what’s next.
  • -You feel disconnected from yourself, your purpose, or the life you imagined.
  • -You’re functioning well on the outside but internally feel overwhelmed.
  • -You’re struggling with grief, loss, or a significant change in your life.
  • -You simply want a space to better understand yourself and grow.

Whatever brings you here, you don't have to navigate it alone.

My Areas of Focus

Relationships & Connection

Relationships can be one of the most rewarding and challenging parts of life. I work with individuals who are:

  • -Questioning the future of a relationship
  • -Recovering from a breakup or separation
  • -Navigating communication difficulties
  • -Healing after infidelity or betrayal
  • -Experiencing loneliness or disconnection
  • -Wanting to better understand their relationship patterns

Sometimes the work isn’t about changing the relationship itself—it’s about understanding yourself within it.

Men’s Mental Health

Many men have spent years carrying stress, pressure, responsibility, and emotions without ever having a place to talk about them. I work with men navigating:

  • -Relationship challenges
  • -Stress and burnout
  • -Fatherhood
  • -Separation and divorce
  • -Emotional wellbeing
  • -Identity and purpose
  • -Life transitions

Therapy doesn’t require you to have all the answers before you arrive. Sometimes it simply starts with a conversation.

Anxiety & Overthinking

Anxiety can leave us feeling trapped in our own minds. You may find yourself:

  • -Constantly worrying about the future
  • -Overanalysing conversations and decisions
  • -Struggling with uncertainty
  • -Experiencing panic or overwhelm
  • -Feeling unable to switch off and relax
  • -Expecting worst-case scenarios

Together we can explore ways of responding differently to anxiety rather than allowing it to run the show.

Life Transitions

Life doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Major transitions can challenge our sense of identity, purpose, and direction. These may include:

  • -Career changes
  • -Becoming a parent
  • -Relationship changes
  • -Relocation
  • -Family transitions
  • -Mid-life reflection
  • -Questions about purpose, meaning, and direction

Therapy can help create space to reflect on who you are and where you’d like to head next.

Grief, Loss & Adjustment

Loss comes in many forms. Not only through the death of a loved one, but also through:

  • -Relationship endings
  • -Family breakdown
  • -Changes in health
  • -Loss of identity
  • -Unfulfilled hopes and expectations
  • -Significant life changes

Grief often asks us to adjust to a reality we didn’t choose. Counselling can provide support through that process.

How I work

My Approach

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine conversation rather than a clinical assessment.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity.

While I draw from evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I don't believe people are problems to be fixed. More often, they are navigating circumstances, relationships, emotions, and experiences that deserve understanding rather than judgement.

Together we can explore what's happening in your life, uncover patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and identify meaningful ways forward.

My work draws upon:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Attachment-informed approaches
  • Somatic and body-based approaches
  • Gottman Method principles
  • Mindfulness-based practices

Most importantly, I tailor therapy to the individual sitting in front of me. No two people are the same, and therapy shouldn't be either.

From Leif

A Personal Reflection

Over the years, I've noticed that many people come to counselling believing they should be coping better than they are.

They tell themselves they should have moved on by now. They should have made a decision already. They should know what they want. They should be handling things differently.

But being human isn't always that straightforward.

Relationships can be messy. Life can be uncertain. Sometimes we find ourselves carrying challenges that feel difficult to make sense of on our own.

I don't see therapy as a process of fixing people.

Instead, I see it as creating space for reflection, understanding, growth, and change.

Often, the goal isn't becoming someone different.

It's becoming more fully yourself.
